Broken finger rules out Martyn

WESTERN AUSTRALIA captain Damien Martyn has been ruled out of the Warriors' Pura Cup meeting with South Australia at Adelaide Oval beginning tomorrow.
Martyn was struck awkwardly on the end of a finger when taking a catch to end the Redbacks' innings in yesterday's ING Cup match and did not take his place in the visitors' batting line-up as they cantered to a six wicket win.
The former Test No.4 has returned to Perth after suffering a break at the tip of one of the fingers on his right hand.
Martyn consulted with Warriors medical and coaching staff in Adelaide before succumbing to the soreness and swelling in the finger.
He is expected to be fit for WA's next match against Tasmania at the WACA on November 25.
Man of the match yesterday, Adam Voges has come into the 12-man squad for the four-day match. Marcus North will captain his state for the first time.
Meanwhile, South Australia has recalled the trimmed-down Mark Cosgrove to replace injured opener Matthew Elliott, who was given a pain-killing injection on Friday to ease discomfort in his right knee.
With an undefeated 109 in his ING Cup comeback match against Queensland followed by a well-struck 71 yesterday, Cosgrove's hard-hitting contributions have the potential to give SA the momentum it needs to match the lofty pre-season predictions.
Tipped as fancies in both competitions, the Redbacks have only one win from five domestic matches.
The side's early expectations were not dimmed by a pair of bruising losses to a full-strength New South Wales, but Saturday's ING bonus point concession to WA raised questions about the Redbacks' batting even as captain Darren Lehmann complained about the folly of 9.30am start times.
SA wicketkeeper and vice captain Graham Manou this week said his side had budgeted for six Pura Cup victories from 10 matches, an expectation that would seem too steep to fulfil without a win over the Warriors, who are also yet to collect a point in the four-day competition.
